PHONE SUSCRIBERS

Telecommunication growth has become robust in recent years. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the telecommunications sector contributed N1,580 billions to GDP in the second quarter of 2016,or 9.8%,which represents an increase of 1.0% points relative to the previous quarter.

In June 2016,the total number of GSM subscribers was 149,179,083,an increase of 2,692,267 or1.84% relative to June 2015.In both percentage and absolute terms,the year on year increase in GSM subscribers numbers have been falling steadily over the past 12months. In March 2016,the year on year growth rate was 4.06%,and in June 2015 the rate was 12.22%,However, the number of GSM subscribers increased between may and June of 0.44%.

The National Bureau Statistics report shows that almost everyone has a mobile phone which increase the telecommunication subscribers.
